Fortunately, a friend of the Feline Foundation was returning home from a party and noticed the wee little thing and whisked her off to the emergency vet. The rescuer and a technician from the hospital pitched in to feed Molly around the clock for the next week until her Feline Foundation foster mom returned from a business trip to take over Molly's care. Molly had already doubled in weight (7 whole ounces!) by the time she settled into her new foster home, where she continued to thrive and grow. Luckily, Molly has been amazingly healthy, and with a steady diet of KMR, baby food, and love, she has turned into a robust little ladyshe weighed almost two pounds by 7 weeks! Like many bottle fed orphans, Molly has shown little interest in giving up her bottle, but we know that the light bulb will switch on any day now. **UPDATE EARLY JULY xxxx: Eureka!!! She eats on her own & we have the (adorable) photo to prove it! Congratulations, Molly. And foster mommy, too!** Molly is an extremely active, rambunctious little sprite. When she is awake, she is in motion, running at top speed from one end of the room to the other. She plays very well, and quite fearlessly, with all of her older foster siblings, even though the smallest is four times her size. Molly has grown up without littermates or momma cat to set limits on her exuberance, so she sometimes needs to be reminded to be gentler in her play. But shes getting better about the full-tilt ankle attacks. It's always hard to predict a kitten's adult personality, but right now Molly is more of a romper than a cuddler, except at meal time, when she melts into her foster moms arms. (Maybe that was behind her disinterest in being weaned!) Molly shares her foster home with 4 indulgent adult cats, and has socialized with lots of humans. She's fearless with everyone, and not even a tiny bit shy. She has no separation anxiety about being left in a room alone and can entertain herself quite easily. However, she would probably do best in a high energy home, and we think we she will be just fine in a house with dogs, other cats, and most children (little ones might find her full-throttle style a bit too much to handle). Molly will be ready for adoption as soon as her foster mom gets her to eat out of a bowl. Keep your fingers crossed that she masters this important skill soon so she can join your family! Update August xxxx: The little lady has been adopted! Happily, by a neighbor (and fellow FFGW volunteer) of Molly's foster mom, who has negotiated visitation privileges so she can watch Molly grow up! October 17, xxxx, 5:34 am
