Chip is the sweetest little guy you will ever find and was born in late April xxxx. He LOVES other cats and is often looking for a playmate to chase and softly wrestle with... he even takes on the passive position in wrestling so that other cats know he doesn't have a mean bone in his body! Chip is incredibly gentle and well behaved, and he has been treated like the baby in his foster home for so long that he knows very well how to give his humans those sad, sweet eyes and pathetic little scratchy meow in order to get some food or a treat. Chip has quite the story.... When he was rescued by 4Paws as a kitten along with his litter-mates, he was barely hanging onto life while suffering from a severe mouth infection and starvation. 4Paws volunteers worked around the clock to give him proper nourishment and medications until he stabilized and got up to a healthier weight. Having been exposed to a virus and infections at such a young age before his immune system was developed, Chip underwent a few more months of recurring mouth infections, fevers and severe gingivitis and was on and off of antibiotics the entire time. After seeing numerous veterinary specialists, Chip had all of his teeth extracted since his gingivitis could not be cured and was fighting with his immune system, leading to the re-infections. Thankfully, those infections went away after his surgery, and he doesn't let having no teeth get to him at all... in fact, he still loves to eat and has no problem doing it! While Chip is past the majority of his health issues, he is still struggling with some asthma that has popped up in the past few months. 4Paws has sought holistic medicine for him instead of antibiotics or steroids so that his immune system would have an opportunity to build up. The good news is that Chip has not had any major asthma attacks on this treatment, which has included acupuncture and will include another couple of months of holistic supplements (given in pill form). Chip will definitely need to find a permanent home that will be very attentive to his health, given the struggles he has had thus far and the unknowns of whether he will remain where he is or heal fully. Because Chip is accustomed to humans giving him medicine and doting all over him, he is super easy to handle and quite sweet. He is also super lean as he grows into a tall and lanky teenage boy, and he has developed a big, manly jungle cry to show how grown up he is . He especially loves wand toys, watching birds and bugs outside the sliding glass door, sleeping with his human friends at night, playing with other kitties, and helping humans make the bed. He is 100% precious and would be a joy to add to any loving, attentive household. Chip is neutered, current on vaccinations, and tested negative for FIV & feline leukemia.
